FLOREY, John - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

After suffering since 6:30 Tuesday morning from paralysis, John Florey died about two o'clock Friday afternoon at his home near Beulah. He had been in failing health for several years and was in no condition to rally from the attack, and his family realized this from the first. Mr. Florey was born on the old Florey farm west of Newtown, March 25, 1839 and was the son of Joseph and Lydia Nave Florey who had come from Virginia in 1834, settling first near Attica, soon after buying land in the western part of Richland township which is still held by the family. Mr. Florey lived in the old house until about 37 years ago he bought the home where he lived ever since near Beulah. He was twice married his first wife the mother of his children dying more than 25 years ago. The children of that marriage were Charles and Clinton who are living and Richard. Mrs. Ed Hart and Mrs. Will Knowles who are dead. A second wife also survives. Mr. Florey was widely known and was a tireless worker, a good manager and a good citizen. While giving the strictest attention to his own affairs he took a lively interest in affairs of public importance and was most conscientious in his dealings with his fellow men. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. William Wilmer and interment made at Beulah cemetery.
